Cherry Picnic Basket / Box

I love blog land quite a bit because it inspires me to craft - even if it's out of nothing. Check out The Shabby Tea Room challenge this week, because it's simply amazing. Here's the photo that inspired me.

Reminds me of happiness and picnics. Therefore I took out my crochet needles and yarn... But I didn't want red cherries. Somehow the red yarn I have doesn't look cherry red. Hahaha. So I opted for pink instead. Lol. Still doesn't look like cherries but it's okay, there's always more projects to practice on. Hahaha!

Here's what I came up with:
Picnic Box

Front of box

Back of box

Half open lid

Some more cherries stamped on cover

This picnic box has taken quite a while to construct! It's sturdy enough to hold food items inside because it is made of chipboard and further reinforced. I prefer to make my own boxes. This allows me to create with the kind of shape that I like and to change the features of the box with the way I like it to be. The lids can be opened halfway to display the items inside the box. Handles can be rotated to the sides to remove the lid. Used chalks to color stamped cherry images.

In fact I think I will use this box to house my crafting items. Now they are laying on my shelf in plain black boxes, so I believe this would be a good replacement.

The Shabby Tea Room - Week #101 "Hi Ho Cherry O"

Quite a bit of work for this box, but I'm happy with it right now. How have your week been so far? I'm still looking for the right job but no news so far. Till then, I'll enjoy the times I have with my scrapping. :)
