Sizzix: Card | Hoot

Hello! This week I have been blessed with Sizzix UK dies and I can't wait to get my hands working on them! First thing I had to work with was the Sizzix UK bigz die - owl.

This sweet little owl has taken my heart away! The assembly of this owl was simple, all it required was the correct tools and it is done in a matter of seconds.

Yes, this set of Sizzix accessory is my best friend when it comes to paper crafting. The right tools can really help save tons of time in the assembly and glueing process.

I decided to go with a sliding panel card, so the owl will pop up when the receiver slides the card panel. This owl does deserve a good limelight with a pop up mechanism!

This card also stores flat for mailing so I don't have to worry that the elements get flattened during mailing. Working on this card took a short time, and sometimes card making is easier when you have the right elements right in front of you.

MR DT: What Really Matters

Time sure passes fast! This is my first Maya Road project for 2017. Today, I made use of the 4" wood pallet and decided to add a photograph where I can change along the year to highlight different events!

This is a really simple and fun project to do. First, I gesso-ed the chipboard pieces.

Adding some random chipboard numbers to the pallet and topping it up with another layer of gesso:

Next, I added some textured paste using the diecut piece from Maya Road Dots ATC Die. Using the diecuts as stencils, I obmit the step of cleaning after use. That's one faster way of crafting! After the textured paste dries, I added some random stamping all around. If you need to, just dab lightly some additional gesso to reduce the contrast of the stamping. On the next step, I used 3D foam dots to pop up the MR Scalloped Frame ATC diecut.

I always love to have some vintage tone to the florals I use in projects. Here, I simply mixed some gesso with a little water, and applied lightly to the petals of the MR Medium Vintage Flowers.

Additionally, i used a piercer and twined the stems of the flowers around it. It looks like vines around the flower and I prefer this look.

Here I have a closer look at the completed project. I did add some light misting randomly to enhance the pink tones for this project. Kept it light, so it would not overwhelm the focus.

Another closer look at the portions with the textured paste. Love how it gives a random textured look.

I used the gold bulldog clip so I can change the photo whenever I wanted! That clip is really a must to all projects!

Adding elements to this project was easy. I used MR Vintage Doilies as a backdrop, and added the resin bird coupled with paper flowers and wooden token.

Last but not least, i added some porcelain pink resin mini mums to fill some empty spaces. This step is all i need to make the project feel complete.

MR DT: Christmas Cards

Hi Roadies! What is in your crafting plate today? For me, it had been a good change. A little slowing down and spending time on the things I love. This morning, the sun is up and shining. Love to wake up to such bright mornings and it makes me fresh. 

Christmas is coming too soon! I try to get ahead of time and start on the Christmas cards early, so I don't get into the mad rush. Here, I am sharing 4 cards which I have done up pretty quickly with the help of Maya Road embellishments (Really, all you need for Christmas cards this year is Maya Road)

For the first card, I made use of the Maya Road Homemade Holidays stamp set as my primary 'ingredient'. It is so easy to use this set! You have all you need!  I first stamped the circular bells with a random color, red or green. Then I matched it with the hanger portion and stamped. (This hanger portion is also available in the stamp set!) Before I laid all my bells onto the card base, i added some more stamping (the circles with dotted lines) in the background to highlight the bells. Then I stamped the sentiment directly onto the card base using some red pigment inks. Set it all up, and add some Cherry Red cording. When all is done, I decided to add some more blink to this card with the Silver Snow Crystal Charms!

For the next card, i decided to showcase one of my favourite flowers in the Maya Road Collection. This is the Cadmium Red Shimmering Pointed Petal Flower. Love its vibrance and how it shines! There is no need for any other embellishments with this flower! In my case, i added the alphabets 'J' and 'Y' to make up the word JOY. Then I added a little banner, stamped a tiny phrase from the Homemade Holidays Stamp Set. 

Another card here with the same word Joy. This time my stamped sentiment has changed. One stamp set and it gives me this many possibilities. Instead of a large flower centre, I have used the Wood Snowflake button. For the background, I had distressed it with some darker blue distress inks to provide a contrast against my title.

And don't forget to use your dies as well! Dies are very important tools to my crafting purposes nowadays, and I can't do without them! Here is the So Deer Steel Die on some shiny dual tone foil paper that I had on hand. On the background, I did some random stamping of snowflakes. Even the dotted line edging the sides of my background is from the stamp set.
