MR DT: Cards | Celebrate and Thanks

Hello roadies! I am on the Mayaroad blog today with 2 cards to share. These 2 cards are inspired by this gorgeous Mayaroad die - Geometric Hexagon Die. 2 cards with 1 die - how awesome is this die!

Here is the first of the cards, using the positive die-cut. I cut several pieces of the die-cut with white cardstock and arranged them in a geometric fashion.

Each of these hexagons are actually a layer of 2 pieces of die-cuts to enhance the texture of the background. Since I was going to be using white on white cardstock, I needed the background to have some form of texture.

Then I added the silver foil die-cut on top of the existing white cardstock die-cut. The silver foil star came from the die-cut, I just cut along the edges so the background does not look so plain.

To complete the card, I added some wood shaped star buttons and a sentiment from one of my favorite stamp set, Rose Garden Sentiments using silver ink on black cardstock for contrast. Finally, I added some printed vellum sheet and attached the card front to the base with adhesive foam.

This really excites me, especially when 1 idea leads to another. Before I know it, 2 cards are done with 1 same die.

This card was lovely to make. While making this first card, I found a second idea to use up the negative of the same die. Instead of throwing them to the bin, I decided to work with them, and here is what I achieved.

For this card, I picked up my distress ink and colored the background piece in peacock feathers color. Then I added some temporary adhesive to the postive side of the die-cut, and stuck it on the card base. Then I went ahead and pasted the negative portions with permanent adhesive. Once that was done, I removed the positive piece, arranged it next in place and repeat the same process again.

Here was what it looked like after I was done. Then I went ahead to trim off the sides and matted it with teal cardstock.

I really loved how the shades of teal contrast with the white negative die-cuts.

For the decoration, I added some die-cuts from the floral die set. The florals act as a base for the wood tokens. I matched 2 different wood tokens layered one on top of the other and added some leaves acting as fillers and contrast from the base. The die-cut leaves are from the same floral die set and the stamped leaves are from Rose Garden Sentiments. To complete this card, I added some frosted transparency and banners peeking out from either side of the decoration.

Hope you get inspired with Mayaroad, have a great week ahead!

MR DT: 12x12 Layout | BFF & a little home decor

Hello Roadies! I am back again on the Maya Road Design Team Blog [here] sharing a layout, a sweet floral deal and a little home decor which I had been tempted to work with!

For starters, I would like to share a layout on my best friend. I wanted to scrap this photo quite badly. We have been friends since schooling days and no matter how often we meet up, we always have something to talk about.

I chose a natural selection of colors in my layout, with one of my favourite tulle flowers as the main embellishment highlight.

The tulle flowers are soft and easy to match. I like to add some jute and the MR diecut leaves to layer with the flowers. Flowers are the main staples for me, they add a flowy and dreamy feeling to the layout, and can be used for a variety of themes.

To complete the dreamy look, I added some MR fabric trims and pearl trims to hide the edge of coordinating pattern papers.

Layering paper flowers with resins are a favorite too! Try cording the stems around a piercer, and shape the stem as if it was the vines of the paper flower. I love adding this trick to my paper flowers, they give an added vintage look to it!

The kraft doilies gives a good background in this layout, and I later added a variety of Maya Road products for the layering! I have a feeling that you might see this cute envelope die cut and the resin diamond quite often in my layouts! These are absolute favourites, and they go hand in hand with the flowers in this layout!

Hope you have liked the layout so far! Check out the fun items Mayaroad have on sale this month. Save 30% on flower products in the flower collection! Shop happy today! Be sure you use the FLOWERPOWER code at checkout!

Just because I got hooked with the flowers I was working with, here is another home decor project:

This is quite easy to accomplish, and the floral decor can be really used as a bag brooch as well. I first started by gathering the supplies:

Grab your glue, and start to build them up! I started off with the shimmering pointed petal flower as the main highlight, and layered the other items according to my preference behind the flower. Last to go on is the clip!

Next, I worked on doing some crochet with some crafting jute cording and the jute and twine cording.

Adding 2 different jute cordings give it strength and color shading. I always love a little hand crochet basket on my desk, holding my project embellishments or little items lying around.

I hope you like the layout and the home decor project today! Now do not forget to check out the flower deals at Mayaroad.com

Thank you for joining me today!

MR DT: 12x12 Layout | Enjoy

Hello! Today I am on the Maya Road Design Team Blog sharing a layout & a really good deal in March for Maya Road Dies!

There are so many things you could do with the dies, be it cards or layouts or altered projects - and you could do that again and again! Dies are really fun, they give a different outlook with different materials too! This month, Maya Road is featuring dies and there are amazing deals for purchases of dies on the online store

Today, I am sharing a layout using Maya Road dies

Enjoy

Most friends who know me, know I really need that coffee in the morning before I start off the day. That cup of coffee in that photo is almost my schedule every day!

I started off the layout with one of my staple dies - the Geometric Diamond Die! I really love all the geometric dies - these are super useful! In this case, I used it repeatedly lined on the background of my layout, then machine stitched them in place.

Do you have those wood tokens? Try adding them to the circular wooden embroidery hoop - that creates a good layering and a new embellishment look. Gold bulldog clips are a must have, it also acts as a good directional embellishment, creating focus to the photo as well.

I was very inspired by the Maya Road Enjoy Coffee die set! I can see endless possibilities to this set! Here, I chose the colors red, white and gold in association with the photo. Then I added the Ken Oliver Vintage Mini Arrow Charms on top of the cluster of stars in the centre of the cup. It gives directional focus to the picture! Next, I layered with some coordinating flowers, mixed mini wood slice, cup clip and resin mini mums

The title "Enjoy" was die cut from the same Enjoy Coffee die set! I cut it twice, once with gold foil, and the second time with foam sheets. Then I glued the foil piece onto the foam piece. This helps to raise attention to the title, and gives it a slight shadow all around the alphabets! I also used a key charm to direct the attention to the journalling in this layout.

Now, wait no longer! Be sure to check out the Maya Road dies today! They are 25% off with coupon code DIESOFMARCH - only valid up to 31st of March 2017.

Thank you for joining me today!

MR DT: Wood Pallet | "Love" / Creativation 2017 updates

Hi Roadies! This year marks my first visit to Creativation 2017 and I am very excited to share my Creativation projects this year. Do read till the end! There are some awesome deals happening in Febuary!

Maya Road wood pallets are fun to work with. There are different sizes and shapes available - let the creativity flow! This time, I chose a 8x8 wood pallet to work with.

To coordinate with my wedding dress, I chose red and white as the primary colors.

First, i primed the wood pallet with gesso, then using the Dots ATC diecut as template, i applied textured paste on. These die cuts are so useful in a whole load of ways! Then I painted with hint of browns lightly. I wanted the base to stay natural.

Then i used the Cherry Red twine cording to go around a embroidery hoop. When this is done, I used some jute to sew in the centre so it looks like a dreamcatcher.

When the sewing is all done, I did some diecutting with the rolled flower die. This time, I used felt. It gives a soft look - and I love it! When you are done, just add pearls to the flower centre.

Now it is time to assemble all the other pieces together! Layering all the Maya Road goodies together is always the fun part! Here are the supplies which I have used:

• Shimmering Pointed Petal Flower - Cadmium Red
Felt Blossom - Cloud
• Embossed Metal Leaf Embellishment
Ken Oliver Vintage Compass Charms
Ken Oliver Vintage Mini Keys
• Acrylic Token
Mixed Wood Slices
Stained Wood Star Buttons
Silver Star Pins
Love Kraft Gift Tags
Geometric Diamond Die

Lastly, I decided to add some tassels to complete the project! Here I have used the Fire Red tassels and Milk White tassels.

Hope you get some inspirations from the projects! Now, for the special deal! Don't miss out! It is time to stock up the wood supplies!

MR DT: What Really Matters

Time sure passes fast! This is my first Maya Road project for 2017. Today, I made use of the 4" wood pallet and decided to add a photograph where I can change along the year to highlight different events!

This is a really simple and fun project to do. First, I gesso-ed the chipboard pieces.

Adding some random chipboard numbers to the pallet and topping it up with another layer of gesso:

Next, I added some textured paste using the diecut piece from Maya Road Dots ATC Die. Using the diecuts as stencils, I obmit the step of cleaning after use. That's one faster way of crafting! After the textured paste dries, I added some random stamping all around. If you need to, just dab lightly some additional gesso to reduce the contrast of the stamping. On the next step, I used 3D foam dots to pop up the MR Scalloped Frame ATC diecut.

I always love to have some vintage tone to the florals I use in projects. Here, I simply mixed some gesso with a little water, and applied lightly to the petals of the MR Medium Vintage Flowers.

Additionally, i used a piercer and twined the stems of the flowers around it. It looks like vines around the flower and I prefer this look.

Here I have a closer look at the completed project. I did add some light misting randomly to enhance the pink tones for this project. Kept it light, so it would not overwhelm the focus.

Another closer look at the portions with the textured paste. Love how it gives a random textured look.

I used the gold bulldog clip so I can change the photo whenever I wanted! That clip is really a must to all projects!

Adding elements to this project was easy. I used MR Vintage Doilies as a backdrop, and added the resin bird coupled with paper flowers and wooden token.

Last but not least, i added some porcelain pink resin mini mums to fill some empty spaces. This step is all i need to make the project feel complete.

Hope you like what I have shared today! Best wishes for the new year and till the next post!
